The Wizard and the Wand That No One Really Used

Turn Your Tools Into Spells with Odoo Wizardry.
By Andy Scott • Managing Director

Once upon a time, in a land of swirling spreadsheets and bouncing inboxes, there lived a kingdom blessed with a powerful gift.

A wand.

Not just any wand.

This wand could tame wild finances, summon leads from thin air, connect teams across mountains, and even bake marketing plans from scratch. It was elegant. It was clever.  It was called Odoo.

But here’s the twist.

No one used it.

Chapter One: The Day the Wand Arrived

It began, as most things do, with a sales pitch.  A Knight in Shining CRM rode in on a unicorn called “Demo-sthenes,” dazzling the royal court with visions of dashboards, pipelines, portals, and everlasting peace.

The people clapped.  The Queen nodded.  The Entrepreneur (who always had one idea too many) said, “That’s exactly what we need!”

Gold was exchanged.  Contracts were signed.

The wand was delivered.

And it was placed… gently… on a shelf.

Next to an unopened training manual.  Next to the printer.  Next to an ancient scroll marked “Xero logins.”

Chapter Two: Resistance of the Realms

You’d think a wand that could send automatic follow-ups, track every inquiry, align your sales and accounts teams, and even fix your online shop of spells would be a big hit.

But no.

In one corner, the Court Accountant hissed, “But I like my ancient ledgers.”

In another, the Web Guardian said, “We already have The Scroll of WordPress. It has pop-ups!”

And the Royal Marketing Apprentice was still manually pasting form entries from JotForm into spreadsheets, because “that’s how we’ve always done it.”

Even the Entrepreneur, who once claimed they could “run the empire from a phone,” now couldn’t remember their Odoo password.

Chapter Three: Enter the Wizard

And that’s when the Wand Whisperer arrived.

Not a grand sorcerer with flowing robes—more like a well-worn coat, a box of doughnuts, and a laptop full of diagrams.

He listened. He nodded. He poked around with the wand.

And then he said what no one else dared to say:

“You’ve had this thing for two years… and it’s still not plugged in.”

He didn’t shame.  He didn’t scoff.

He just got to work.

  • Spells were written (in Python, not Studio spaghetti).
  • Broken scrolls were repaired (Zapier links, mostly).
  • Rituals were replaced with processes.
  • And one by one, the villagers started seeing results.

Leads flowed.  Orders tracked.

Even the Queen got a dashboard built just for her.  It was pink.

Chapter Four: The Village That Got Its Act Together

It didn’t happen overnight.

Some days, the Entrepreneur disappeared on a dragon chase.  Nobody knew what he was going to do next.

Some days, the Web Guardian threw shoes at suggestions.  Pointy ones.

But with a little patience, a lot of diagrams, and the occasional box of Ye Olde Greggs' finest, the Wand Whisperer helped them see what they already had.

And they used it.

Not all of it.  Not at first.

But enough to finally stop bouncing between systems like a frog prince in a spreadsheet swamp.

Chapter Five: The Moral of the Story

Tools don’t make the magic.

Using them does.

Odoo isn’t just a wand.  It’s a whole spellbook.  And it is really quite magical.

But unless someone helps translate the runes, builds the rituals, and stands with you when dragons appear, most businesses will never move beyond “Demo-sthenes”

If you’ve got Odoo and you’re not using it…

If you’re juggling 14 systems when one would do…

If your kingdom needs fewer meetings and more meaning…
